| If the shelf tag has no stars, it simply means one of two things:
1. The food doesn’t meet the nutritional criteria for a Guiding Star.
Hannaford encourages you to read the Nutrition Facts label to help you make informed choices
that work best for you and your family. Remember to balance the foods you love with a healthy,
active lifestyle.
2. The food is not rated by Guiding Stars.
The following categories are not rated by Guiding Stars:
• Baby Foods – different dietary needs for ages two and under
• Bottled Water – no calories
• Oils/Fats – labeling inconsistencies
• Coffee, Tea, Spices – not included in Dietary Guidelines for Americans or other official recommendations
• Products with 5 calories or fewer per manufacturer serving size – not a significant source of nutrients
• Alcoholic Beverages – not included in Dietary Guidelines for Americans or other official recommendations |
