Guidelines for Giving:
We consider requests from worthy charities in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York, and Vermont that fall into four general categories.

• Health and welfare
• Educational institutions
• Civic and cultural organizations
• Other local charitable organizations

In determining which programs to support, the Foundation considers the benefit to the community, other area programs supported recently, and whether those programs are similar to ones currently being considered.

Some of the organizations funded by the Foundation include YMCAs and YWCAs, Boys and Girls Clubs, museums, libraries, hospital building or capital funds, as well as college and university capital or building funds.

The Foundation is a major supporter of United Way, contributing annually to each United Way branch within our marketing territory. Our retail, distribution center, and corporate office associates also generously contribute through our annual United Way Fund campaign.
