 Hannaford’s 163 stores are making it easier for customers to help families in need this holiday season.
Between November 25 and December 22, customers can purchase a pre-assembled bag of food for just $10 that includes high-protein and staple products:
- 1 jar Hannaford Creamy Peanut Butter
- 1 can Geisha Chunk Light Tuna in Water
- 2 boxes Hannaford Macaroni & Cheese
- 1 can Dinty Moore Beef Stew
- 1 box Hannaford Elbow Macaroni
- 1 jar Hunts Spaghetti Original Sauce
- 1 can Hannaford Mixed Vegetables
- 1 can Hannaford Chicken & Rice Soup
- 1 box Hannaford Instant Rice
- 1 can Hannaford Fruit Cocktail in Pear Juice
Customers simply include the bag in their regular grocery order. All donated bags will be picked up by local food pantries and soup kitchens, which will distribute the items to area households in the five states Hannaford serves: Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont.
This program, which began in 2004 at a single Hannaford supermarket, allows hunger-relief agencies to provide compete Thanksgiving meals and essential staples to area families. The number of participating stores has grown each year, and because of the extraordinary response from customers, the program was expanded to include every store this year.
