Making Sense of Supplements - Essential Fatty Acids

Fresh ProduceEFAs are fatty acids required in the human diet but which the body cannot produce. Within EFAs there are two closely related families, omega 3s and omega 6s which have many healing qualities.

Borage Oil – Prized for its extremely high content of special fatty acid gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) an omega 6. Helps with psoriasis and eczema. Also revered by women who suffer hormonal issues.

Evening Primrose Oil – A rich source of GLA. Keeps hormone levels healthy which controls inflammation, blood clotting and symptoms of menopause.

Fish Oil – Contains omega 3 essential fatty acids EPA and DHA which reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. Fish oil also provides anti–inflammatory benefits, promotes positive mood, and fosters healthy brain function and development in children.

Flax Oil – Besides being the best source of omega 3, it is a good source of omega 6 – linoleic acid (LA). Flax oil promotes cardiovascular and colon health, boosts immunity, helps brain growth, promotes healthy skin, and may lessen the severity of diabetes by stabilizing blood sugar levels.
