Hannaford Supermarkets to complete relocation of Bradford store on June 29

Hannaford to donate approximately $20,000 of fresh product to Vermont Food Bank

BURLINGTON, Vermont – Hannaford Supermarkets announced today that it will complete the relocation of its Bradford store located at 61 Market Lane on Saturday, June 29. The new supermarket has been designed to meet the standards of the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program.

The new store, built next door to the former location, will be nearly triple the size at 35,000 square feet. It features a number of upgrades designed to create an outstanding overall shopping experience for customers

The relocated Bradford Hannaford will offer a new butcher shop, seafood counter, produce and bakery departments, and a wide increase in gluten-free, organic/natural and frozen offerings.

“Hannaford Supermarkets is honored to bring our signature combination of everyday low prices, quality foods and outstanding service to the residents of Bradford,” said Hannaford Store Manager Bob Molinario. “I encourage the Bradford community to join us as we celebrate the relocation of our store. We look forward to showing shoppers the results of what we have been working on.”

The Bradford store has been designed and built to meet the standards for LEED certification from the United States Green Building Council. It will feature an energy-efficient green chill system, which reclaims heat from refrigeration units as well as an advanced refrigeration system that uses less energy and places doors on refrigerated cases.

The exterior has solar-reflective roofing materials which reduce the amount of heat absorbed in the area and the addition of perimeter windows use natural light to brighten the store.

The energy-efficient improvements will also cut down on water use through the addition of low-flow plumbing and iceless seafood cases, which save thousands of gallons of fresh water.

In celebration of the relocation, Hannaford will donate the remaining fresh product in the former store location to the Vermont Foodbank. The donation, which will include approximately $20,000 worth of fresh produce, meat and dairy, will take place on the evening of June 28 in advance of the relocation.

The Bradford store is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
