Hannaford Supermarkets to offer new lower prices

Scarborough, Maine -- Hannaford Supermarkets today announced that it has launched a multi-million-dollar program to further reduce its already competitive prices.

Price reductions are being made to a broad range of items, including everyday products that are most in demand by customers. Specials will now be locked in for specific periods of time – often weeks and months -- with the “good-through” dates published on signs and in advertisements.

“Hannaford is helping customers save money on items across the store, making it even easier for shoppers to meet all their grocery and household needs in one stop,” said Heather Paquette, Divisional Vice President of Operations. “Hannaford’s prices – already competitive -- are going down even more.”

Real savings will be available throughout the year, in keeping with Hannaford’s everyday low price approach.

“This investment in lower prices will help our customers with their weekly family budgets,” said Mary Wright, Vice President of Marketing. “People will see for themselves how much money they can save in every department by shopping at Hannaford.”

The grocer will maintain and continue to grow its relationships with local farmers and food companies, which sell products through the Close to Home program.  The company also remains committed to its community partnerships and to helping customers make healthy food choices.

“Hannaford will still provide the great service, products and selection that our customers expect and deserve,” Paquette said. “These new lower prices do not change who Hannaford is and has been since our founding on the Portland waterfront in 1883. The prices are a confirmation of our commitment to meeting the needs of our customers.”
