California Distributor Recalls Cantaloupes

Reason for Recall

Hannaford is advising customers who purchased cantaloupe between September 5-13 of this recall because its stores carried cantaloupes from DFI Marketing.  All affected product has been removed from stores and distribution centers.  If stickered, the label on the item will read PLU 4050. 

Details:

Scarborough, ME – DFI Marketing Inc. of Fresno, Calif. has voluntarily recalled cantaloupe that has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. No illnesses have been reported.

Hannaford is advising customers who purchased cantaloupe between September 5-13 of this recall because its stores carried cantaloupes from DFI Marketing.  All affected product has been removed from stores and distribution centers.  If stickered, the label on the item will read PLU 4050.  Customers should dispose of the item and return the sticker to the store for a full refund.

Salmonellawas found on a single sample of cantaloupe during routine testing conducted at a wholesale produce distribution center.  The cantaloupes were distributed to retail customers in 21 states and Mexico.
