Check Cashing

  • With proper identification, Hannaford Customers can apply to cash government, payroll and pension checks that are considered regular income. These include social security and government weekly or biweekly payroll checks. Applications take about 5 business days to process before customers can cash

  • We do not cash "one time" checks, such as insurance claims, tax refunds, money orders, cashier’s checks, or two-party checks. We will also decline handwritten payroll checks, starter and counter checks, or post-dated checks.

  • Having said this, store managers reserve the right to decline any check presented for cashing at a Hannaford store. Because Hannaford does not have the tools and leverages available to financial institutions for check cashing, in order to limit our losses we allow our managers to use their discretion.
