14 1/2 oz canned whole tomatoes
1/4 cup Fresh basil leaves
1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon Crushed red pepper flakes, or to taste (optional)

directions:

1. Combine the tomatoes and their juice, basil, salt, and red pepper flakes, if using, in a blender or food processor and puree for 30 seconds; set aside until needed. May be prepared 1 day in advance and stored, refrigerated, in an airtight container. Allow to come to room temperature before using.
