Ingredients

Chef Salerno says the secret to flavorful vegetables is to cook them in chicken broth. Recipe may be doubled or halved.
1 (14.5 oz .) can low-sodium chicken broth
1 (16 oz.) pkg. frozen broccoli florets
1/4 tsp. salt, or to taste
1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
1 Tbsp. unsalted butter
1/3 cup sliced almonds
Broccoli Florets with Almonds

Directions

1. In a large saucepan, bring broth to a boil over high heat. Add broccoli, cover, reduce heat to medium, and simmer for 5 to 6 minutes, until broccoli is fork tender. Strain and reserve broth for another use. Transfer broccoli to a serving bowl and toss with saltand pepper.
2. Melt butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Add almonds and saute until lightly toasted, about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat. Top broccoli with the almonds and serve warm.
