1. In a small, heavy-bottomed saucepan, heat water and sugar over medium heat, stirring until sugar is dissolved, about 5 minutes. Stir in rum, simmer 1 minute, and remove from heat. Let cool while you prepare the fruit.
2. Arrange pineapple slices on a platter. Peel and slice mango and kiwi and add them to the platter. Peel and slice bananas. In a small bowl, toss banana slices in lime juice to prevent browning, then add to platter. Drizzle fruit with rum syrup and serve.
