Ballston Spa Hannaford plans expansion

Ballston Spa, NEW YORK – Hannaford Supermarkets has proposed an 8,000-square-foot expansion to its store on Trieble Avenue that would allow the supermarket to add a wide variety of new products – including hundreds of additional natural and organic items.
The company will submit plans for an expansion of the 36,400-square-foot store, a new pharmacy drive-through and increased parking.  Hannaford owns the property on which the expansion would take place.
“Hannaford is committed to providing customers with the products they need, at low everyday prices,” said Eric Blom, Hannaford spokesman. “This expansion will add 8,000 new items to the variety of fresh, frozen and packaged products offered in Ballston Spa. Shopping will be even easier and more enjoyable with the additional space.”
New features in the store will include a pharmacy consultation room, where customers can speak confidentially with a pharmacist or have a flu shot in private. The store also will have a fresh, new look and enhanced navigation.
Hannaford hopes to begin construction during the first half of 2015, pending permitting for the project.
The store expansion represents Hannaford’s latest investment in New York, where it has done business for more than a quarter century and operates 51 supermarkets, including one that opened two years ago in Ballston Lake.
